Episode Summaries
Episodes #128-132:
A soused Roberta decided to throw herself at Andy, who was spending Thanksgiving alone. He rejected her and she left Katherine a message saying she was quitting -- unfortunately, the message was left on Danielle's pager instead!
The Fishers & Chases celebrated Thanksgiving together. Everyone seemed to notice how distracted Jason was, though no one realized it was because of Alex. Alex, meanwhile, spent a tumultuous evening with Sally. The two decided to stay in King's Bay.
Paula got emotional about her "past" and Bill tried to comfort her. A curious Tim tried to figure out what was going on and found adoption papers in his parents' room.
Sarah and Brent got closer, but Molly had trouble keeping her feelings to herself. Jason warned her that she had to. Later, she overheard Sarah talking to Matt on the phone and noted that they made plans to meet.
Molly "showed up" at the coffee house just before Sarah and Matt were set to meet. She talked to Matt, who kept quiet about his liaison with Sarah. Sarah arrived and Molly played innocent. Once Molly left, Sarah worried about everything falling apart.
Nick and Ryan spent Thanksgiving with Katherine. ... Danielle found the message from Roberta and forced the crooked exec to admit her alliance with Katherine.
Alex saw Lauren at the mall. She offers words of comfort when he voiced his concerns about his mother. They made plans to see a movie the next day. Then he literally ran into Jason. The two young men discussed their "encounter" and brushed it off quickly as a result of the alcohol. Both were left feeling uneasy, though.
The day after Thanksgiving, Tim and Claire finally discussed the Ryan situation. Claire promised to stay away from Ryan, since she can understand Tim's concerns.
Episodes #133-137:
Lauren and Alex went to a movie together. They grew closer, albeit uncertainly. Later, at Jason and Courtney's ice show, Alex grew uncomfortable watching the closeness between the two.
Tim visited Paula, hoping to find out what was going on Thanksgiving night. He came away empty-handed. ... Molly went to see Brent at work and stirred doubts in him regarding Sarah.
Roberta informed Katherine that Danielle knew all about their plan. Katherine went to see Nick, who later admitted to Ryan that he cares for Kat. Meanwhile, Danielle returned home to Andy, her tour having been cancelled.
On Christmas Eve, Matt spent a lonely night in his apartment. He received a surprising phone call from an unknown recipient. Sarah and Brent spent the evening together, but when Sarah mentioned the prospect of a baby, tensions grew thick.
Katherine went to see Andy on Christmas Eve. He was unreceptive to her apologies. ... Claire took a Christmas Eve walk and bumped into Ryan, but ran off without talking to him.
Sally and Alex joined the Chases for Christmas. Sally assured Don and Helen that she is finished meddling. Courtney encouraged Alex to go after Lauren; he seriously considered the idea, despite his internal struggle.
The Fishers held their annual New Year's Eve party at the hotel. Tim finally told Claire about his concerns regarding Paula, and Claire tried to get some info out of her mother-in-law -- to no avail.
Meanwhile, Molly showed up at the party -- with Matt as her date! She'd phoned on Christmas Eve to ask him. She and Sarah had a confrontation over Matt; Molly made it clear she's not interested. As the countdown to the New Year began, couples prepared to kiss ... including Lauren and Alex.
Episodes #138-140:
Midnight ushered the New Year into King's Bay. Alex and Lauren shared a kiss. Later, Jason felt torn over telling Lauren about his experience with Alex; he opted to remain quiet.
Matt and Molly both grew uncomfortable watching Brent and Sarah kiss. Matt questioned Molly about her tense relationship with Sarah, noting that the sisters almost seem to be competing.
Later, Matt and Sarah shared a dance. Sarah worried about their secret night together being found out, while Matt fought his attraction to Sarah. Meanwhile, sparks flew as Molly and Brent also danced.
Paula remained upset about whatever she has been hiding. Bill urged her to let it go, but she expressed frustration at having to keep it bottled up for more than thirty years. Bill insisted that they leave the past alone.
Claire was shocked to find Ryan out on the terrace! He explained that he'd snuck into the party just to see her. She was spooked by his visit, but again failed to tell him about Tim's wish that they not see each other. Ryan made a cryptic comment about the millenium being a time for new beginnings before taking off.
Nick received a disturbing telephone call. He confessed to Ryan that it was from a 'business' associate -- they owe someone a great deal of money.
Bill and Paula again argued over whatever has been bothering her. Paula expressed an urge to tell the kids, but Bill refused. Paula wondered if his reaction was more because of fear that he'd be embarrassed.
Andy and Danielle woke up together. He turned amorous, but a suddenly uncomfortable Danielle held off his advances. Feeling bad, she suggested they set a wedding date; they chose the first weekend in April.
At a Willis Advertising stockholders' meeting, Katherine and Nick talked. He reassured her that things will get better with Andy and then invited her out for dinner on Valentine's Day.
Jason stopped by to see Courtney, but she said she was busy with Alex and couldn't see Jason right then. Jason left and Courtney returned to Alex -- whom she helping set up a Valentine's surprise for Lauren.
Ryan visited Claire at the hospital. She announced that he had to stop visiting, but admitted it was because of Tim's orders. Ryan departed, secretly thrilled that it was Tim - not Claire - who was forcing him away.
Episodes #141-144:
Ryan expressed enthusiasm about his chances with Claire, and Nick again warned him to be wary of her. Ryan challenged his father, countering that Nick is putting Katherine in danger by dating her.
Paula assembled her children, planning to make a major announcement -- but Bill arrived home and sent them all away before she could do it.
Sarah became ill. On Valentine's Day, she and Brent were preparing to leave for dinner when she fainted. He took her to the hospital; she reported everything was fine, but was clearly disturbed.
Tim set up a rooftop dinner for Claire on Valentine's Day. However, the main course wound up flying off the roof, and the couple celebrated by ordering pizza in their apartment.
Courtney was confused when she couldn't find Alex's Valentine to Lauren, which Court was supposed to "find" and give to her pal. Little did she know that Jason had found it, misinterpreted it, and gone off to confront Alex!
Jason confronted Alex and accused him of trying to steal Courtney. Alex explained that the Valentine was for Lauren -- but also admitted that his actions after the party with Jason were more than just a drunken whim.
Molly and Matt had a heart-to-heart chat about relationships. He became convinced that she has a thing for Brent.
Nick and Katherine shared a romantic Valentine's dinner and then a kiss. However, out in the street, Katherine was the victim of a drive-by shooting!
The next morning, Nick worried that the mob shot Katherine as a warning to him. Andy visited his comatose mother and pleaded with her not to die, despite their past differences.
Courtney visited Alex and he told her that he'd put the Valentine on the car but it must have been blown away or something. She accepted the story but insisted that he go tell Lauren his feelings for her. Alex hesitated.
Ryan (who was with Nick at the hospital) found a teary Claire thinking about her own mother's death. He kissed her, but it brought back memories of the rape. She screamed at him and, despite his insistence that he had something to say, forced him to leave.
