News of Katherine's shooting spread
through King's Bay quickly. Molly visited Brent at the police station,
where he assured her that he would be investigating the shooting heavily.
The next day, he had Nick come in to answer some questions. Nick did not
provide much useful information, but Brent later informed Molly that the
department had dug into Nick's past. Their interest was piqued by his past
activities, particularly his association with James Robbins.
Andy and Danielle quarreled when
he suggested postponing the wedding until Katherine recuperated. He was
annoyed by her attitude towards his mother, but agreed that it would be
illogical to disrupt the wedding plans. The next day, they reconciled and
went to the airport to welcome Danielle's father, Bob, and brother, Max.
Danielle became uncomfortable when the subject of her future with Andy
was mentioned.
Helen overheard Courtney and Jason
discussing Paula. Later, Helen paid Paula a visit and urged her to unburden
herself and her family by telling them the truth. Bill and Paula again
argued over whether or not she should tell the kids. Meanwhile, Tim told
Jason about the papers he found.
Claire confronted Ryan about Katherine's
shooting. He tried to convince her that he had no idea if it was related
to Nick because of his lack of involvement in Nick's business. Claire told
him to prove that he's changed by finding out the truth about the shooting
and telling her. Claire resolved to uncover the Morianis' involvement in
the situation, though she kept her plan from Tim.
Matt informed Sarah of his Valentine's
Day chat with Molly. She was angered by the possibility that he might have
feelings for Molly, but he assured her she was wrong. He said that he was
fairly certain of Molly's feelings for Brent. In private, Sarah mulled
over her sister's feelings for her husband and told herself that the baby
has to be Brent's.
Andy and Danielle's wedding arrived.
Sarah tentatively broached the subject of starting a family with a tense
Brent and he shot her down. They argued and he then ran into Molly. They
shared a tender discussion -- which led to a kiss. They were stunned when
Danielle walked in on them kissing. Molly rushed off and Brent tried to
explain the situation to his rattled sister.
The wedding procession began. Everyone
was shocked when Danielle failed to walk down the aisle. In the bridal
room, Bob found a note saying that she couldn't go through with the wedding.
Bob and Josh were sure she had gone back to their home in San Diego, so
Andy made the trip back with them. Before leaving, he visited the comatose
Katherine and pleaded with her to be there when he returned.
Lauren and Alex cleared up the Valentine's
Day confusion. He assured her that he wants a relationship and they kissed.
Jason witnessed the kiss and was unnerved to hear of their strengthened
relationship.
Nick told Ryan that a call from some
associates made him almost certain that the shooting was a warning to pay
their debt. He tried to figure out how to find the money. Later, he went
to see Katherine. The machines in her room went wild, but the doctors stepped
in to avert a crisis. When Nick went back in to see her, he began whispering
that this was all his fault ... as Katherine began to awaken.
After the wedding, Sarah and Brent
reconciled. Brent was unable to shake thoughts of Molly and the kiss, but
the moment turned intimate anyway. Sarah broke it up and ran to the bathroom,
sickened by the thought of Brent not wanting the baby.
The next day, Matt came to see her.
They discussed the night they spent together and the passion between them
intensified, especially as Sarah recalled her disastrous night with Brent.
She suddenly broke up the steamy moment, holding her stomach. Matt realized
that she is pregnant. She could not deny it.
151-155
Alex assured Jason that he really
wanted a relationship with Lauren. Jason was surprised but accepted this.
Privately, Alex was filled with doubts. And when a playful moment turned
more sexual, Alex felt uncomfortable.
Tim asked Bill about Paula's secret,
but Bill wouldn't give up anything and urged his son to back off. Tim and
Jason discussed the situation later and tried to figure out why their parents
wouldn't want them to know if one of them were adopted.
Matt and Sarah met to discuss her
pregnancy. She lied and told him the baby was positively Brent's. He realized
that she hadn't yet told Brent and urged her to tell him immediately. Meanwhile,
Brent and Molly ran into each other at the mall. They talked about Danielle
and how seeing them kiss might have driven her away from the wedding, though
Brent continued to hide the extent of his feelings for Molly.
At the hospital, Katherine awoke.
Nick covered his comments about being at fault and told her why she was
in the hospital. He was grateful to have her back and she expressed her
gratitude for his being there. He was plagued by guilt.
Claire went into the police station
for questioning about the Morianis. Brent asked her if she could support
the allegations of Nick's involvement in mob activity. She offered the
information she had, but kept secret her connection to Ryan. Then she went
to see Ryan to find out whether he had any information to share. He said
he didn't, but they got into it over their past again. The confrontation
ended with Claire reminding Ryan of the rape and storming out.
An incensed Nick, having overheard,
demanded the truth from his son. Ryan blurted out that he never raped Claire.
Nick listened in shock as Ryan recounted the actual events of that long-ago
day: He had been staying with his biological father, Stan, who came home
in a drunken rage to find Ryan and Claire in an intimate moment and then
raped Claire. Ryan let Claire think he was the rapist, fearing that Stan
would go to jail. Nick said that Ryan needed to tell Claire the truth,
but he said he had tried many times and couldn't find the strength.
Andy found Danielle at her family
home in San Diego. They finally talked honestly and Danielle explained
her reasoning for not marrying him. She forced him to realize that they
rushed into a commitment because of Katherine's schemes without being sure
it was what they wanted. Andy tried to accept this and they said their
final goodbyes. Back at home, Andy was happy to see Katherine awake and
improving, but their reunion was tense as she refused to let go of her
aggression towards Danielle.
Courtney encouraged Alex's renewed
interest in Lauren. They discussed her relationship with Jason and Courtney
confessed that they had not yet slept together. She expressed her fears
over it, since it would be her first time, especially since Jason slept
with Shannon. Alex was troubled by memories of his encounter with Jason.
Sarah went to an abortion clinic
to learn about her options. The doctor informed her that she was too far
along in her pregnancy to have an abortion anyway, but she had already
decided to keep the baby. She resolved to tell Brent the truth.
Molly questioned Claire about her
involvement with the Morianis, fearing for her safety. Tim overheard and
explained about Ryan to Molly. Claire assured both Molly and Tim that there
is nothing to worry about, as she continued to hide her contact with Ryan.
Tim told Molly about Paula and the
papers. With Jason, they went to confront their mother. They demanded the
truth and Paula broke down. She confessed that none of them are adopted
-- the papers were from the child she gave up! Just as she let the truth
out, Bill arrived home and was furious.
156-160
Despite Bill's protests, Paula told
her story to Molly, Jason, and Tim. She explained that while she and Bill
were engaged, he underwent a bout of impotence that took a toll on their
relationship. Paula had an affair that resulted in a pregnancy. Though
she and Bill worked out their differences and resumed their engagement,
they decided to give up the baby boy for adoption. The kids were stunned
by the news. Bill was cold to Paula.
During a tense run-in, Ryan bit his
tongue to keep from spilling the truth about the rape to Claire. She was
later surprised to learn how determined Brent had become to nail the Morianis,
but agreed to use her connection to Ryan to help out with the investigation.
Later, Ryan confronted Claire about working against him. Molly interrupted
and wondered about Claire's involvement with Ryan, but Claire assured her
there was nothing going on between them.
Sarah was horrified to find Matt
and Brent talking, but realized Matt hadn't slipped about the pregnancy.
She told him that she went to a doctor and told him of her plans to tell
Brent.
The Fishers held a party to celebrate
Jason, Courtney, Lauren, and Alex's graduation from college. At the party,
Sally was thrilled to meet Lauren and praised her to an uncomfortable Alex.
Meanwhile, Bill and Paula quietly argued over her confession. He alleged
that she makes everything about herself, without considering its effect
on him. Sarah was devastated to learn Paula's secret and ran out, dropping
her appointment book. Molly picked it up.
Molly's curiosity got the best of
her and she looked inside the book. She asked Claire about an entry regarding
a doctor -- unbeknowst to her, the doctor at the abortion clinic -- and
was surprised to learn that Dr. Brandt was not a doctor at the hospital.
She returned the book to Sarah later.
Paula and Tim went to explain the
situation to Sarah. She was enraged, claiming that she hardly felt like
a member of the family. They tried to justify not including her in the
announcement and apologized. Sarah broke down and, stricken by the similarities
between Paula's story and her own situation, told her mother about her
pregnancy -- just as Brent walked in. She then confirmed it for Brent,
citing his reluctance to start a family as her reason for waiting to tell
him.
Ryan received a message from Stan,
his biological father, indicating that they had maintained contact through
the years. Meanwhile, Katherine and Nick dined at Windmills. Nick ran into
Claire, who was there with Tim, and warned her to back off the investigation.
That only toughened her resolve to see him behind bars. When Nick reported
back to Ryan that the date went well, Ryan thought of a plan for eliminating
their debt.
Paula and Bill once again fought
over her revelation. She was devastated by the extent of his anger and
his chilliness towards her.
Danielle called Molly and warned
her not to let her feelings for Brent get out of control. Molly was then
stunned to learn of Sarah's pregnancy from Paula. Meanwhile, Danielle phoned
Brent, who told her about the baby. Danielle questioned his commitment
to his marriage. She then informed him that Roberta Owens had called to
offer her another tour and she chose to accept it rather than return to
King's Bay.
161-165
Sarah filled in Matt on Paula's revelation
and how it led to her telling Brent about the pregnancy. Meanwhile, Molly
visited Brent at the station and they speculated about Claire's link to
Ryan. Later, Molly ran into Matt and mentioned the entry in Sarah's appointment
book about going to see a Dr. Brandt from another hospital.
Jason, Courtney, Alex, and Lauren
traveled up to the Chase cabin to spend a night in celebration of Courtney's
birthday. After a night of drinking, the couples retired to separate bedrooms.
Unable to get his encounter with Alex off his mind, Jason tried to get
Courtney to have sex, but she was not ready and finally made him go sleep
in the extra bedroom. Alex wound up in there as well after slipping out
once Lauren fell asleep. The young men discussed Jason's predicament as
they fell asleep.
As night came over King's Bay, some
revealing dreams were had. Molly dreamt that Sarah lost the baby and ended
her marriage to Brent, allowing him to be with Molly; Brent had a nightmare
about his future with Sarah; Sarah had a dream about Brent choosing her
and their child over Molly; and Matt feared that Sarah would shut him out
of his child's life.
After another date, Nick proposed
marriage to Katherine. She was stunned but happily accepted. ... Andy received
a call from Danielle informing him of her plans to go on tour. They shared
a bittersweet goodbye. ... Katherine told Andy about her engagement. He
was upset by the news.
Jason discussed Paula's revelation
with Bill. He assured his father that the news did not lessen his respect
for him -- but the way Bill was handling the situation might. Later, Sarah
told Bill that she was happy Paula had shared the secret because it gave
her perspective on her own pregnancy.
Andy told Brent about Katherine's
engagement. Brent filled him in on the police investigation and the suspicion
surrounding Katherine's shooting. He asked Andy not to mention the investigation
to his mother for fear that Moriani would become alerted to it, but he
offered to help Andy talk Katherine out of marrying Nick. The men then
discussed Sarah's pregnancy and Andy made Brent wonder about Sarah's reasons
for waiting so long to tell him.
166-170
Matt needed to have a serious talk
with Sarah, but she went into labor. He rushed her to the hospital, where
she gave birth to a baby girl with Brent by her side. However, she was
unable to ignore the possibility that Matt might be the father and avoided
Brent's efforts to name the baby.
Courtney and Jason discussed what
happened up at the cabin and reconciled. Courtney admitted that Jason's
behavior scared her a little. In spite of the realization that he could
manipulate the situation, Alex encouraged the reconciliation by telling
Courtney how remorseful Jason was.
Bill and Paula bonded during Sarah's
labor. But back at home, Paula rebuffed Bill's efforts to smooth things
over because she felt he would not address the core of the problem.
When Ryan came to see Claire at the
hospital, Tim warned Moriani to stay away from his wife. Ryan planted a
seed of doubt in Tim's mind about Claire's feelings. ... Nick heard a phone
message that suggested that Ryan had maintained contact with his biological
father, Stan, after all these years. ... Katherine confided in Nick that
she paid Roberta Owens to offer Danielle a slot on the world tour so that
she would stay away from King's Bay.
Outside the nursery, Brent and Molly
had a bittersweet conversation. Brent found himself feeling more resignation
than enthusiasm as he thought about his family. ... Matt came to see Sarah
in the hospital and confronted her about Dr. Brandt. He angrily wondered
why she would have lied about the possibility that he could be a father.
171-175
Bill admitted that he was wrong to
oppose her decision so strongly. Paula was thrilled by his effort and they
happily reunited.
Matt returned to Sarah's hospital
room and demanded a test to prove the baby's paternity. Sarah made him
agree not to say anything to anyone until they were certain, but Matt accused
her of using the baby as a last resort to keep Brent from Molly. That was
enough to make Sarah send for Brent, who arrived with Molly in tow. (They
had been discussing Sarah and Molly's relationship over by the nursery.)
Molly's appearance drove Sarah over
the edge. She hinted quite broadly at the feelings between her sister and
husband -- and then admitted that she slept with Matt when she returned
to King's Bay and that he could be the baby's father. Matt and Molly exited,
and Sarah tried to get Brent to tell her whether he had feelings for Molly.
Brent stormed out.
During a conversation with Lauren,
Jason remained a bit insecure about his relationship with Courtney, but
Lauren assured him that Courtney was not holding the incident at the cabin
against him. When Lauren brought up Alex, Jason was nearly driven to tell
her about him, but he could not.
Later, Jason took Courtney on a romantic
picnic to make up for her botched birthday celebration. They professed
their love and Courtney promised that when she's ready, her first time
would be with him.
Nick inquired about Ryan's quest
for Claire. He insisted that Ryan had to tell Claire the truth about the
rape if he were to stand any chance at all of winning back her affections.
Despite Nick's pushing, Ryan didn't tell him about his continued communication
with Stan. Nick then received a phone call warning him to pay up. Ryan
expressed his nervousness over their bad business deal and Nick tried to
reassure him, but Ryan worried that the plan to bilk Katherine would fall
through.
After a romantic afternoon interlude,
Tim and Claire again discussed Ryan. Tim told his wife about Ryan's comment
at the hospital, but Claire assured him that she is not interested in Ryan.
She vowed to bring down the Morianis, despite Tim's pleas to leave it to
the police. When Claire had a nightmare about the rape, Tim consoled her
and they finally talked about the incident in detail. Tim wondered why
Claire never pressed charges against Ryan. She considered the possibility
but did not feel confident about it.
Meanwhile, Ryan was stunned to receive
a visit from Stan. He asked his son for some money and grew angry when
Ryan honestly said that he had none to give out. Ryan was uncomfortable
with Stan's awkward attempts to bond with him, but still wondered if Stan
would be able to get together sometime. When Stan left, Ryan wondered why
he continued to protect the man.
Sarah visited her family and announced
that she had named the baby Victoria Skyler. She also confessed the uncertain
paternity and told of her marriage's shaky situation. Molly arrived home
and made some comments that caused Sarah to leave with the baby. Molly
then filled in the rest of the story for the family. Jason took her aside
and questioned her about her nasty behavior towards Sarah. He worried that
her feelings for Brent were overshadowing her concern for her sister.
