Episodes #151-180

Katherine Fitch awoke from her coma. She and Nick grew closer in the aftermath of her ordeal. He managed to conceal the fact that her shooting was a warning to him to pay his debt to the mob. As Nick grew more desperate to pay up, he decided that marriage to Katherine would allow him access to her money and a way out of his troubles. He proposed and she accepted. Nick insisted to Ryan that he loved Katherine and that the money was only a bonus to the situation.

Andy went to the Taylors' home in San Diego, where Danielle had fled after leaving him at the church. She made him accept that they had grown apart and that perhaps they had allowed Katherine's manipulations to push them into moving ahead too quickly with their relationship. Danielle decided to stay in King's Bay and later accepted another offer from Roberta Owens to go on a world tour (which Katherine had secretly orchestrated). They parted on good terms, though Andy was heartbroken. He returned to King's Bay and learned of his mother's engagement to Nick Moriani. Brent warned Andy that Moriani could be dangerous and Andy resolved to keep Katherine from marrying Nick.

Brent and the rest of the KBPD became determined to land Moriani in jail for his wealth of illegal activities, for which he had until then avoided punishment. Claire was able to supply the police with confirmation that Nick had been in cahoots with her late father, James Robbins, but she remained wary of letting anyone find out about her relationship with Ryan.

Claire became more agitated with Ryan as she suspected that he was lying about not being involved in Nick's business. She asked him to help her turn Nick over to the police, but Ryan wouldn't budge. Still haunted by the rape, she rejected Ryan's overtures of friendship and joined forces with Andy Fitch in landing the Morianis in prison. The mission continued to put her in proximity to Ryan, though, and she hid this from Tim.

Ryan blurted out to Nick that he didn't rape Claire -- his biological father, Stan Lincoln, was the culprit. Stan had walked in on Claire and Ryan becoming intimate and had raped Claire in a drunken rage and then passed out. When he came to, he did not recall the event; Claire later presumed Ryan had been at fault, and he took the blame in hopes that Stan would not get in trouble. Ryan failed to inform Nick that he was still in periodic contact with Stan, but Nick found out through a phone message. Later, Stan came to King's Bay to ask Ryan for money, but Ryan had none to give him and blew up at him. Stan slinked back out of town.

Tim was too consumed by family troubles to get involved in Claire's mission. He continued pushing Paula to explain the past and tried to get Bill to break as well, but neither did. Finally Tim and Jason filled in Molly on the adoption papers and the three confronted Paula. Much to Bill's horror, she confessed that while she and Bill were engaged, she had an affair that led to a pregnancy. She bore a son and gave him up for adoption. A pregnant and volatile Sarah was infuriated to learn that her mother had told her siblings the story without including her and she lashed out at the family.

Brent and Molly discussed their kiss at Danielle's wedding and determined to put it behind them, though they came close to acknowledging their feelings for one another. Matt asked Sarah if they baby might be his, but she assured him (falsely) that it was Brent's. Desperate, she considered an abortion but resolved to have the baby. When Sarah and Paula finally made amends over Sarah being excluded from Paula's confession, Sarah told her mother about her pregnancy ... and, after Brent overheard, she told him, too. He was concerned that she'd waited so long to tell him but she was able to explain her actions.

When she went into labor, Matt was the one who took her to the hospital. He and Molly watched in anguish as Sarah and Brent delivered the child together. Later, Matt realized that he might be the father of Sarah's baby. He stormed into her hospital room and accused her of using the baby as a pawn to keep Molly away from Brent. Enraged, Sarah summoned Brent to the room to tell him the truth. But when Molly came with him, Sarah exploded: She not only told the truth about the baby, but also accuse Molly and Brent of having feelings for each other!

The revelation about Sarah's newborn daughter fractured her marriage to Brent greatly, though neither of them gave it up entirely. Brent moved out of their apartment and communication between the two became strained. The paternity test showed the baby -- named Victoria -- to be Matt's. The wedge between Brent and Sarah grew greater. Molly offered Brent support, while Sarah and Matt worked to solve their problems for the good of their daughter.
