Episode #19
A Few Days After #18

TEASER
INT. TIM & CLAIRE’S APT. MORNING
CLAIRE sits on the couch, reading a book distractedly. She looks up, putting the book down in frustration.
				CLAIRE
				(thinking)
				I can’t stop thinking about
				Travis. And I can’t believe
my father is the main suspect
in the kidnapping … I just
				hope the police find Travis
				soon.
Enter TIM, dressed for work in a suit and tie.
				TIM
				Hey. How you holding up?
				CLAIRE
				I can’t think about anything
				but the baby.
				TIM
Me neither. I just hope it
does me some good to get back
				to work.
				CLAIRE
				I don’t think I’m quite ready
to do that myself. We don’t
know where he is … if he’s
safe – if he’s even alive!
				TIM
I’m sure he is, Claire. Why
				would your father kill him?
				CLAIRE
				Revenge! He’s gonna be sent
				to jail for your shooting
anyway, so he might as well
go out with a bang, right?
				TIM
				I guess that makes sense … I
just hope wherever he is, he
				doesn’t harm our little boy.
INT. AIRPLANE SAME
TRAVIS sleeps in a bassinet. Enter a weary JAMES.
				JAMES
				I don’t believe I’m doing this
to my little girl. But then
again, I can’t believe what she
did to me! How could she turn
me in? Tim I can understand …
he’s a complete moron. But why
				Claire? Why?
He looks down at the sleeping baby.
				JAMES
				(cont’d)
Oh, Travis … don’t worry. Your
mom and dad are never going to
				find you.
He sighs and appears suddenly determined.
				JAMES
				Never.
INT. CRAIG’S APT. SAME
MOLLY and CRAIG drink coffee at the kitchen table.
				MOLLY
I’m so glad they caught Dr.
Smith. Now we can try to move
				on with our lives.
				CRAIG
				I’m just happy you’re safe,
				Molly. If anything happened
				to you …
				MOLLY
				Thankfully, nothing did. I’m
				excited about getting back to
				normal.
				CRAIG
				Well, before things get too
				routine around here, I was
				wondering if you’d like to
have lunch with me this after-
				noon?
				MOLLY
				I’d be delighted.
They kiss briefly.
INT. SARAH & BRENT’S APT. SAME
BRENT sits in a chair, while SARAH is stretched out on the couch. In progress.
				BRENT
It’s a good thing we caught
Dr. Smith. I have all this
				other crap building up.
				SARAH
				What kind of "crap"?
				BRENT
Too much work … sometimes I
get so sick of this job.
				SARAH
				Well, at least you’ve got
such a wonderful wife to go
				home to every night, right?
				BRENT
				Of course. And that—
He is interrupted by the ringing of the phone. He picks it up.
				BRENT
				Hello?
He listens.
				BRENT
				What?! That can’t be!
				(pause)
				I don’t believe it! Yeah … I
				think I’ll go over there
				myself.
He hangs up.
				SARAH
				What is it?
				BRENT
We need to get down to the
station.
				SARAH
				Why?
				BRENT
It looks like we arrested the
				wrong man.
ACT ONE
INT. OFFICE HALLWAY LATE MORNING
TIM walks out of the men’s room and begins down the hallway. DIANE turns the corner and sees him.
				DIANE
				Tim!
				TIM
				Oh, hi.
				DIANE
How are you guys holding up?
				TIM
				Not too well.
				DIANE
				Have the police found anything
				yet? Any clues? Leads?
			TIM
				Hardly a thing. Nothing of
			any use.
			DIANE
			That’s too bad. Does anyone
have an idea who the suspects
			are?
			TIM
			Actually …
			(lowers his voice)
			Claire’s father is a prime
			suspect.
			DIANE
			What?! How?
			TIM
			(hushed)
			I’d appreciate it if you
			didn’t mention this to anyone,
but … when I got my memory
back, I remembered who it was
that ordered me shot. It was
			her father, James.
			DIANE
			No!
			(lowers her voice)
			Don’t worry … I’ll be quiet.
			TIM
Thanks – I appreciate it. It
feels nice to have someone I
			can confide in.
			DIANE
			(guiltily)
			No problem. Really.
EXT. FISHER HOME SAME
BRENT, SARAH, MOLLY, and CRAIG stand in the driveway as officials move around in the background.
				MOLLY
				(disbelieving)
This has got to be some kind
				of practical joke!
				BRENT
Even if it is, Molly, it’s a
				big thing.
				MOLLY
				(through tears)
But we caught him … it was
supposed to be over … why?
				CRAIG
				It’s probably just someone’s
sick idea of a joke, Molly.
He wraps his arms around her and looks into her arms.
				CRAIG
				(cont’d)
				But don’t you worry – I’ll be
				here to protect you. Nothing
				will happen to you.
				MOLLY
I guess it makes sense. Sarah,
				remember when I was telling
you that Dr. Smith didn’t seem
to have any kind of motive?
				What if I was right?
				SARAH
It could be, Molly. Don’t get
				too worked up right now.
				CRAIG
				I’m sure someone is just
				trying to get attention. The
real danger is Dr. Smith –
				and he’s behind bars.
				BRENT
				Maybe not for too long.
				MOLLY
				(frightened)
				What?
				CRAIG
				(shocked)
				How?
				BRENT
You can bet that with evidence
like this on his side, his
				lawyer won’t waste any time
				getting him out of there.
JASON comes through the front door and down into the drive.
				JASON
				What’s going on out here?
				MOLLY
				He’s back.
				JASON
				What?
				MOLLY
				The stalker – someone, we’re
not sure – they painted my
name in the driveway and then
				scattered roses all around it.
				JASON
				No!
				SARAH
				Yeah.
				JASON
				I thought he was arrested.
				CRAIG
				He was … we thought.
ACT TWO
INT. TIM & CLAIRE’S APT. MIDDAY
CLAIRE sits gloomily on the couch, watching television. She is still in her pajamas.
				CLAIRE
				(sotto voce)
I cannot believe my own father
would do this to me. I guess
he figured he’s get revenge on
us by kidnapping Travis ... But
				where did he take him?
There is a knock on the front door.
				CLAIRE
				Who’s there?
				PAULA (OS)
				It’s Paula, dear.
				CLAIRE
				Hang on a sec!
She rises and walks over to the door, unlocking it and admitting PAULA to the apartment.
				CLAIRE
				What’s up?
				PAULA
Bill and I were worried about
				you, seeing as you’re alone
				for the day ...
				CLAIRE
Tim needed to go back to the
				office. Hopefully it’ll be
				therapeutic for him. If only
I had such a nice distraction.
				PAULA
				That’s right -- you’re still
				on maternity leave, right?
				CLAIRE
				Yep.
				PAULA
				So, anyway, I realized there
hasn’t been a chance for me
to talk to you about this --
				one on one, you know.
				CLAIRE
				Thanks for coming over. I
				need to talk to someone.
				PAULA
				Not a problem, dear. You’re
				like a daughter to me.
				CLAIRE
It’s nice to hear that ...
				especially since my mother
is dead -- and in my mind,
				so is my father.
				PAULA
Are you sure your father is
				the one who kidnapped Travis?
				CLAIRE
				I’m 99% positive -- now all
I need to do is figure out
				where they are.
INT. DIANE’S OFFICE SAME
DIANE is pacing nervously.
				DIANE
				(sotto voce)
This is all my fault. I
				never meant for things to
end up like this ... I just
				thought James would start a
				fight between Tim & Claire;
				she’d side with her father
and leave Tim all alone ...
ready for me to make my
move. But no! Crazy Ol’ Mr.
Robbins just had to go and
				screw things up! Damn his
				infernal hide!
She moves over towards the phone.
				DIANE
				(cont’d)
I need to figure out where
he is, or at least convince
him to get the hell back
				here.
She picks up the phone and dials.
INT. RESTAURANT SAME
CRAIG and MOLLY sit at a table, sipping wine.
				MOLLY
It was a great idea to go
				out for a romantic lunch.
				If nothing, it should take
				my mind off everything.
				CRAIG
				(slightly annoyed)
				Well, I was kinda hoping
it would be a chance for us
				to spend some time together.
				MOLLY
				Craig, Craig -- I didn’t
mean it like that at all.
				CRAIG
				I understand.
				MOLLY
				Really?
				CRAIG
Really. I know this has been
a terrible ordeal for you, &
				I understand that you’ll need
some time to recover from it.
				MOLLY
That’s exactly what has me so
				worried. I don’t think I’m up
				to the recovery period yet.
				CRAIG
				What do you mean?
				MOLLY
I just don’t think Dr. Smith
was the real stalker. I think
				he’s still out there. There’s
				someone out there waiting to
				get me, Craig!
				CRAIG
				Please, Molly -- take your
				mind off that. Besides, I
				have something important to
				ask you.
ACT THREE
INT. AIRPLANE MIDDAY
A cellular phone is ringing. Enter JAMES, who answers the phone.
				JAMES
				Hello?
				DIANE (OS)
				James, it’s Diane Bishop.
				JAMES
I don’t have time for this.
				DIANE (OS)
				You should -- you obviously
				can’t leave wherever you are.
The police would jump on you
				in a second.
				JAMES
				For what, may I ask?
				DIANE (OS)
You know damn well what I’m
				talking about! Kidnapping the
				baby!
				JAMES
As I said before, Diane, I
did no such thing. I beg of
				you: leave me alone.
				DIANE (OS)
				Not until you promise me
				you’ll return the baby to
				Tim and Claire, James!
				JAMES
I don’t have the baby, Diane.
				Believe me--
A HENCHMAN has entered the room.
				HENCHMAN
				I hate to interrupt, Mr.
Robbins, but the jungle is in
				the middle of a storm.
										CUT TO:
INT. DIANE’S OFFICE SAME
DIANE listens to the phone.
				HENCHMAN (OS)
				(cont’d)
				I don’t think we’ll be able
to get to the hideout for a
				few more hours. We’ll have
				to circle the mountains until
				we can land.
				JAMES (OS)
				Fine. Thank you.
He shoos the man away.
INT. AIRPLANE SAME
JAMES speaks on his cell phone.
				JAMES
As I was saying, Diane, I do
not have the baby. Now just
				leave me alone.
				DIANE (OS)
Fine. I will. But listen to
				me: return the baby safely.
				For your daughter!
She can barely say the last few words, because James quickly hangs up.
				JAMES
				Damn you, Diane! Stop this
				meddling! I won’t let you
				ruin my plans for Travis!
INT. DIANE’S OFFICE SAME
DIANE hangs up the phone.
				DIANE
				(sotto voce)
				Jungle ... mountains ... That
must be where James is going.
I just need to find out which
				jungle and which mountaing.
INT. RESTAURANT SAME
CRAIG and MOLLY sit at their table, in the midst of a conversation.
				CRAIG
				I have something important to
				ask you.
				MOLLY
				What is it?
In a close-up, Craig’s hand can be seen sliding into his pocket, feeling around, and withdrawing, wrapped in a fist.
				CRAIG
				Close your eyes first.
				MOLLY
				Okay ...
She closes her eyes and puts her hands over her face.
				CRAIG
				No peeking!
				MOLLY
				(playfully)
I have done no such thing!
				CRAIG
				Just reminding you.
Craig gets down on one knee.
				MOLLY
				Can I look yet?
				CRAIG
				Open up.
Molly opens her eyes and, seeming to understand the situation, appears surprised.
				MOLLY
				Craig ...
				CRAIG
(putting a finger to his lips)
				Shhh.
He opens his hands up, revealing a BOX.
				CRAIG
The moment we met, I fell in
love with you. You’re all of
				the things I’ll ever want:
				beautiful, intelligent, and
				very caring. It’s a shame
that our first months as a
				couple have been clouded by
the stalker, but in an odd
way, I think that helped us
				draw together a little more.
				MOLLY
Are you saying what I think
				you’re saying, Craig?
				CRAIG
				What I’m asking, Molly, is
				this: Will you marry me?
ACT FOUR
INT. TIM’S OFFICE MIDDAY
TIM sits working behind his desk. Enter DIANE.
				DIANE
				How’s it going?
				TIM
Okay. It helped to get back
to work, but I feel terrible
				about leaving Claire alone
				all day.
				DIANE
I’m sure she needs the time
				alone.
				TIM
I’ve been calling her, and my
mom is over there, so I guess
				it’s okay. We’re both such
				messes.
				DIANE
				They’ll find the baby, Tim.
				You’ll get him back.
				TIM
How can you be so sure? He
				could be anywhere by now.
James is obviously not a very
				stable man.
				DIANE
				I understand, Tim. Remember
that I’m here for you guys.
				TIM
I know you are, and that does
mean a lot to me ... and to
Claire, too, I’m sure. But all
I want right now is to figure
out where James has Travis so
we can go get him back.
				DIANE
				(thinking)
Should I tell him what I
heard over the phone? I might
be able to help them get the
				baby back.
				TIM
It just amazes me that he’d
do things so evil to his own
				daughter! I can’t wait for
the day when that bastard is
				behind bars.
				DIANE
				(thinking)
I should tell him. I have to.
				JAMES
And he can take each and
				every one of his henchman,
his allies, to rot with him.
				DIANE
				(thinking)
But if I tell Tim, then he
				might figure out that I’m
up to something. I can’t let
him know what I’m up to --
				otherwise I’d lose any chance
I’d ever have of being with
				him. What should I do?!?
				Think, Diane, think!
Diane appears stressed as she ponders this. Tim eyes her in confusion.
INT. RESTAURANT SAME
CRAIG is down on one knee, holding out a ring towards MOLLY, who sits in a chair.
				CRAIG
				Will you marry me?
				MOLLY
				(flustered)
				I, uh, I ... of course I’ll
				marry you, Craig!
He jumps up, as does she, and they hug.
				CRAIG
I love you so much, Molly!
				MOLLY
				I love you too!
										CUT TO:
FLASHBACK
